An excellent website for hundreds of links to energy sites, detailing information about renewable energy, information for consumers, kids and states, energy efficiency and for education and financing. There is also information about the Geothermal Technologies Program, the Federal Energy Management Program, FreedomCAR and Biomass Program, and Building Technologies Program. These are different options for energy sources for consumers and businesses. Other information is also available.

Zikha Biomass Energy is a privately held company that is dedicated to innovative sustainable energy solutions. They create power out of woody biomass and produce baseload natural renewable fuel.

National Renewable Energy Laboratory

This is the official government website for energy efficiency, where you can find tons of information about organizations, both national and international, recent research and technology, and all the different energy source possibilities under the sun. This site offers information about solar, wind, geothermal, biomass and hydrogen and fuel cells energy options. There is information for buildings, advanced vehicles and fuels, electric infrastructure systems, and basic sciences.

Renewable Energy Portfolio Standard

On July 19, 2005 the Illinois Commerce Commission adopted Governor Blagojevich’s Sustainable Energy Plan. The plan, which calls for an 8% Renewable Portfolio Standard to be met by 2013 and an Energy Efficiency Standard to be met by 2015, will greatly increase the use of renewable energy and energy efficiency.

Environmental Law and Policy Center

The Environmental Law and Policy Center (ELPC) is a Midwest public interest environmental advocacy organization working to achieve cleaner energy resources and implement sustainable energy strategies, promote innovative and efficient transportation and land use approaches that produce cleaner air and more jobs, and develop sound environmental management practices that conserve natural resources and improve the quality of life in our communities.

The CUB provides up to date information on what is happening with our utilities and the companies that control them. Recent financial decisions concerning Illinois residents, especially those who use Ameren Comed or SBC services are also listed. Political information concerning government officials fighting for environmental protection is also available.
