BN Energy Bright. Turn on the energy savings. To help the community prepare for the chilly fall and winter weather BNEnergyBright is offering its home and small business energy audits at a reduced price for a limited time. Marcus Ricci, the Ecology Action Center’s Assistant Director of Energy & Water Programs, is telling residents and business owners, “winter is coming—don’t be caught out in the cold!”

To help people tighten up their homes and businesses, the Ecology Action Center (EAC) is cutting prices on Home and Small Business Energy Assessments in half–customers now pay just $10 for a home assessment or $20 for a small business. “We will come to your home or business and inspect the visible portions of its structure, windows and doors; mechanical systems such as the furnace, central air conditioner and water heater; exterior and interior lighting; and plug loads including major appliances and audio-video and computer equipment. We will even go up into your attic and check insulation levels and look for leaks in the roof and walls.” The current conditions, benchmarking information from the optional utility bill analysis, and energy cost reduction measures are presented to the client in an energy assessment report.

Unsubsidized, the cost of a home energy audit is $150 and for a small business is $300. With support from the City of Bloomington and Town of Normal electricity aggregation programs, the EAC is able to provide these services at this significantly reduced rate. In addition the post-assessment report, the EAC provides each client an Energy Kit which includes an LED lamp, weatherproofing for one door or two windows, foam gaskets to seal electrical outlets, and information on additional ways to increase the energy conservation and efficiency of your home or small business.

Winter is coming—residents may register for a reduced-price Home or Small Business Energy Assessment. Or contact Marcus Ricci at the Ecology Action Center at [email protected] or 309-454-3169, extension 15.

The Ecology Action Center is a not-for-profit environmental agency with a mission to inspire and assist residents of McLean County in creating, strengthening and preserving a healthy environment.
