Announcing: The 2008 McLean County Recycling and Waste Reduction Awards and The Ecology Action Center World of Difference Awards for Outstanding Environmental Achievement McLean County Recycling and Waste Reduction Awards Any business, organization, or school is eligible to apply. Recycling and waste reductions includes, but not limited to: • Changes in management practices or operations that eliminate or reduce the amount of waste produced. • Methods that recover, reuse, or recycle materials that otherwise may be considered waste. • Procurement policies that encourage the use of recycled materials or reused products. •
Educational and promotional programs that encourage employees to
participate in recycling and waste reduction activities. • Outreach efforts encouraging customers and/or patrons to recycle. Recycling
and Waste Reduction Awards will be presented in the following
categories: small business/organization, large business/organization
and school. Applicants will be evaluated based on innovation,
environmental significance, and commitment to the program plus outreach
efforts.

World of Difference Awards This
award recognizes outstanding projects, activities, or individuals in
McLean County who promote environmental awareness or conserving natural
resources. Any business, organization, school, project, or individual
may be nominated. •
To nominate a project, activity, or program complete and submit an
application detailing the objective of the project, how it was carried
out, and the results of the project. Please provide a name of
someone involved in the project • To nominate an individual, describe his/her contribution to the environment in McLean County.

The
2008 winners will be announced at The Illinois Sustainable Living and
Wellness Expo on April 12 at Illinois Wesleyan’s Shirk Center.
Applications
or nominations letter should be sent to: The Ecology Action Center, 202
W. College Ave., Normal, IL 61761. Envelopes must be postmarked
by April 2, 2007.
