EAC Household Hazardous Waste Survey

In the month of December, the EAC developed and distributed a survey to gauge community interest regarding a permanent household hazardous waste collection facility located in the area. A total of 389 people completed the survey. The results were as follows:

Provided a list of common household hazardous wastes, survey respondents were asked how many such items they currently dispose of in the regular trash.

A fifth, free-response question, "What factors would make you more likely to use a local hazardous waste collection facility?" was asked to determine which issues associated with a new facility residents would be most concerned about. The major concerns expressed were convenience of location and hours of operation.

The data collected from this survey will help demonstrate interest in a future permanent Household Hazardous Waste facility. Thank you to everyone who completed the survey!

2009 Household Hazardous Waste Collection Event Update: The EAC is still on a waiting list with the Illinois Environmental Protection Agency for a Spring 2009 collection event for McLean County. We will hopefully know by sometime in March whether or not McLean County will receive a spring event this year.
