EAC Household Hazardous Waste Survey In
the month of December, the EAC developed and distributed a survey to
gauge community interest regarding a permanent household hazardous
waste collection facility located in the area. A total of 389 people
completed the survey. The results were as follows:
Are you aware that the state of Illinois Environmental Protection Agency has previously offered one-day collections of household hazardous wastes at the Interstate Center in Bloomington?
Have you ever used this service to dispose of one or more of the (household hazardous waste) products listed on the previous page?
If a permanent hazardous waste collection facility were located in McLean County, would you be likely to use it?
A fifth, free-response question, "What factors would make you more likely to use a local hazardous waste collection facility?" was asked to determine which issues associated with a new facility residents would be most concerned about. The major concerns expressed were convenience of location and hours of operation. The data collected from this survey will help demonstrate interest in a future permanent Household Hazardous Waste facility. Thank you to everyone who completed the survey!
